The 3rd stimulus check, also known as EIP3 or third Economic Impact Payment, was authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 as an advance payment of the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit. Most eligible people didn’t need to do anything to get the payment.
To summarize, individuals with an adjusted gross income under a certain amount are eligible for a recovery rebate credit or third economic impact payment of $1,400, plus an additional $1,400 for their spouse (if filing a joint return), and $1,400 for each dependent.
